It would be to your advantage to take a trip to the IKEA store. I always have been to the only IKEA store in Mutiara Damansara and it was unlike any other shopping experience that I’ve had. Great place for those who are looking for more modern interior design ideas (really eye-catchy) but have a limited budget and I can and will probably be putting the items together myself. Besides, they always had good Swedish Meatballs and Daim cake (my favourite mouth-watering at IKEA).

The Power of Music on Memory and Learning The power of music to affect memory is quite intriguing. Mozart’s music and baroque music, with a 60 beats per minute beat pattern, activate the left and right brain. The simultaneous left and right brain action maximizes learning and retention of information. The information being studied activates the left brain while the music activates the right brain. Also, activities which engage both sides of the brain at the same time, such as playing an instrument or singing, causes the brain to be more capable of processing information.

William Balach, Kelly Bowman, and Lauri Mohler, all from Pennsylvania State University, studied the effects of music genre and tempo on memory retention. They had four groups learn vocabulary words using one of four instrumental pieces - slow classical, slow jazz, fast classical, and fast jazz. Each of the four groups was divided into smaller groups for the recall test. These sub groups used either the same (i.e. slow classical, slow classical) or different (i.e. slow jazz, fast classical) pieces when taking the recall test. The results did show a dependency on the music. Recall was better when the music was the same during learning and testing. These same researchers did another test which restricted the changes in the music to just tempo (i.e. slow to fast jazz) or just genre (i.e. slow jazz to slow classical). Surprisingly, the results showed that changing the genre had no effect on recall but changing the tempo decreased recall.

One simple way students can improve test scores is by listening to certain types of music such as Mozart’s Sonata for Two Piano’s in D Major before taking a test. This type of music releases neurons in the brain which help the body to relax. The effectiveness of Mozart’s sonatas can be seen by the results from an IQ test performed on three groups of college students. The first group listened to a Mozart sonata before taking the test. The second group listened to a relaxation tape before their test. The third group did not listen to anything before the test. The first group had the highest score with an average of 119. The second group ended up with an average of 111, and the third group had the lowest score with an average of 110.

Albert Einstein is recognized as one of the smartest men who has ever lived. A little known fact about Einstein is that when he was young he did extremely poor in school. His grade school teachers told his parents to take him out of school because he was “too stupid to learn” and it would be a waste of resources for the school to invest time and energy in his education. The school suggested that his parents get Albert an easy, manual labor job as soon as they could. His mother did not think that Albert was “stupid”. Instead of following the school’s advice, Albert’s parents bought him a violin. Albert became good at the violin. Music was the key that helped Albert Einstein become one of the smartest men who has ever lived. Einstein himself says that the reason he was so smart is because he played the violin. He loved the music of Mozart and Bach the most. A friend of Einstein, G.J. Withrow, said that the way Einstein figured out his problems and equations was by improvising on the violin.

HOW TO KEEP YOURSELF HIGHLY MOTIVATED?
The level of motivation is high as first I decide to incorporate changes to my life but then as the days pass, the level of motivation begins to fall, i lost a track and once again i am on the brink of sinking into my comfort zone. Ever tried to analyze why it so happens?
One reason is that we get surrounded by negative thoughts and quite many near the typical feeling and thoughts that “we can’t do it”, “LAZY to think” and “owh…I do it later”. Bringing the desired changes in life demands an unyielding commitment and perseverance on your behalf on a day to day basis to keep yourself motivated to accomplish the goals set for self improvement. Here are eight simple things that can help you remain motivated all the time.
1. Make it a habit to list down all that you would like to achieve for that particular day.
2. Avoid being in the company of people with negativity.
3. Try looking for forums on the Internet that keep you motivated.
4. Read and learn to listen: One is never old enough not to learn something new.
5. Remain focused on your goals
6. Been there
7. Dream the dream, think about what your dream life and career might be. Think out the details, make it feel real. Dwell on it, thinking about how you might enjoy your future life.
8. Think about the money you get and earn every month. Meaning every 1.5 tax payer support 1 civil servant.Think about the fact that soon you will be questioning during judgment Day.

My Dad My Teacher
I have had a teacher who published more than dozen books and journals.
I have had a teacher who speaks English languages fluently.
I have had a teacher with Ph.D.
I have had a teacher who had been awarded a Dato’and Datin Prof. Emeritus Dr…….
Yet, the most influential teacher in my life was my Dad.
My Dad is a teacher too. When I was a little ‘adorable’ girl, he taught me how to read A B C, count 1 2 3, remembering the facts and also sketch for me a mind mapping. He figured I’ll be a good as him someday. My Dad taught me to ride a bicycle. My dad let me bought what I wanted..Barbie dolls, books, ice cream, chocolate, new hair band or anything. .erm..anything? [sometime..It is good to be the eldest..]
I’m not sure how old I was. But I’m sure ababy, barely 1 to 2, and not wanting go to sleep without my favorite pacifier, so I cried and cried and cried and cried, maybe trying to say “please let my pacifier back”. It was in my dad’s pocket work wear [it shows that my dad always with me, isn’t it?]. My mum has to carry me to school and get my pacifier back.. [Fortunately, we‘re staying in teachers quarters]
When I become an adult, he still worried about me. He checked my car engine condition before I drove it, make a wise decision in my life, he checked my luggage for not more than KiloGram extra before I flied to Kuching or Miri, taught me how to solat and doa’ properly, he advised me to be a good young adult and daughter, he counsel me if I’m in trouble and he calculated my career aptitude test.
My Dad taught me that enjoying work is more important than promotions and prestige. He taught me that completing a job you can be proud of is worth more than the paycheck.
And the last time I saw him, a months ago, my Dad repeated advised me: be a good young adult and daughter.
My Dad, through his example, taught me that experiential education is more important than any lecture. And that the best teacher acts as a coach during the learning process and not a know-it-all expounding inflexible answers.
Although my Dad was a hard working employee of the government, a school teacher with degree from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and would not have earned a Doctorate in Education, it not for the most important essentials My Dad Taught Me.
Happy Teachers Day, Dad!

I feel guilty spending time, writing post for my tumblr during office hour. But I consider more “worthwhile”. If you don’t have a blog, have you ever thought of starting one? It would be worth the investment of your time and energy. There are 14 reasons why blogging matters is more than ever:
1)Current revolution in personal writing thus, can improve your writing too. You’ll get into the habit of writing regularly. The best way to get better at anything is to practice
2)instant publishing and feedback too
3)If come to a business part ~ business blog is an informal, approachable, strong communication tools, free, easily maintained way to regularly communicate with your customers
4) The voice, style and nature of the writers of the blog, is unique to that blog [personal brand]
5)Having readers for your work is a big motivation. When you’re feeling motivated, though, the words come easily.
6)Learn how to craft effective sentences and choose perfect words.
7)Blogs are an ideal medium for experimentation. Try out a new style or form of writing, Short sentences With no verbs, Bullet pointed lists and just pictures [like mine]
8)gives you the freedom to speak it out
9) It brings ideas out to the public
10) A lot of Blogs are riffs on other people’s ideas thus gain new ideas
11) creating a Blog that has niche appeal [can argue and exchange ideas all about your personal areas of interest]
12)Ability to reach more people and make friends
13) Community can help to solve problems through ideas and comments
14)Collective history [replace diaries years by years in the other hand]
For me..Writing a whole story, article, journal or even a book in a new style could be a big risk – it is possible doesn’t work, no readers and viewers, more too educational purposes. A blog post, on the other hand, is quick to write, free to publish and still it is educated resource.
